How we chose the name of the company - Wild Weta - and a note about the NZ weta

Wild Weta is named after an insect found only in New Zealand - The New Zealand Giant Weta (wetapunga).

The Giant Weta is the largest of the weta species - of which there are over 80 varieties - the Giant Weta can grow up to 12cm and weigh up to 30g. Dispite being one of the largest and heaviest insects in the world, the Giant Weta is totally harmless - it just looks scary!

Wild Weta's owner and operator, Craig Beere, was inspired by the weta's ability to adapt and thrive in many different environments from bush and urban areas, and even gorse.
